My Main Ladies!

Sooo.. does anyone else have a borderline unhealthy obsession with the Golden Girls, or am I truly the only wacko that still religiously watches this show?

I just cannot get enough of these funny ladies! I can watch the same episodes over and over again, and I STILL find them so entertaining! Sophia (Estelle Getty) is def my fave, she's a trip!

I hope when I'm older I keep my strange sense of humor and enjoy some unforgettable times like those ladies do!

Anyone else a Golden Girl fan? :)

P.s. I just ate an entire bag of kettle corn... oops? :)

I'm ready for fall!

Tonight, I'm snuggled inside with all the curtains still open; all eyes outside, awaiting for Tropical Storm Isaac to arrive. It's already raining and the winds are certainly gusting away. I'm hoping the storm isn't too bad, since it won't be hitting us directly--Though I did purchase 5 gallons of water and extra batteries so I'm prepped! 0:)

These past few weeks we have been experiencing the daily afternoon thunderstorms that come with living in bipolar Florida in the summertime. Can I just say that I am SO sick of the rain and SO ready for fall! Fall and winter are my absolute favorite seasons! Don't get me wrong, I'm a Florida girl all the way and LOVE my summers at the beach; however, nothing really feels as warm and fulfilling as the holiday season. I love listening to Christmas music, decorating all around the house, enjoying the cooler temperatures, and spending time with mine and Aaron's family.

Well, since autumn is currently no where to be found.. I'm faking it!! That's right, I switched from my summery scents and dug out my Be Thankful Yankee candle! :) It smells absolutely delicious and it's getting me more and more excited for the months to come!! :) I am secretly already pinning Christmas decor and planning my tree theme for this year! Yay!

(I finally jumped on the instagram train! Follow me at fabvintage.)

Anyone else who is in Isaac's path, please stay safe and dry.

Friday Favorites

created at: 11/09/2011

My current obsession is the crazy number of genius things you can do to up-cycle plastic animal toys!

Definitely curious to try this DIY dry shampoo. The stuff I currently use works great but it's a little pricey.

As usual, I've been bitten by the travel bug. Aaron and I love St. Augustine, so I think a weekend getaway at this darling B&B may be well deserved after Aaron's long two weeks working the Republican National Convention (which is in Tampa this year).

Our last trip to St. Augustine

I love becoming more knowledgeable about eating organic and following a more green lifestyle in our home. Here's a great link to educate you more on the fruits and veggies that it's worth spending a little more on.

Planning to try this Sangria recipe this weekend!

And possibly this cupcake recipe, too!

Have a fabulous weekend :)

I'm Back!

**Update: I unfortunately was not the only one interested in the beautiful vintage sideboard! I will have to keep my eyes peeled for something else! :)

Hi everyone!

Sorry I have been MIA.... I have been overwhelmed with projects, traveling, and shopping for my etsy shop ... oh yeah and my real job has been keeping me busy too (how rude!) :) But I am back and ready to share the madness!!

Things we have been focusing on:
We are beginning to purchase things for our bathroom remodel and I am SOOO excited! :) We have finally decided on tile and the overall look we are going for! :)

We are also shopping for new counters in the kitchen!! :) Not sure if we're going with Granite, Solid Surface (like Corian), or Quartz as of yet but we are leaning towards a white/tan stone looking mix! Should be lovely with our white cabinets and laminate wood floors. :)

My current project is duplicating this headboard! I'll be sure to post a detailed tufted headboard tutorial once I complete it! :)
I'm pretty much modeling the technique after the ottoman that I DIY'd a few months back! :)

I have also been feverishly hunting for a buffet/sideboard for our dining area and think I may have found the perfect contender on Craigslist (for only $50!!)... just waiting to hear back if she's all mine or not! :) If I am lucky enough to bring her home, I plan to give her a nice distressed paint look! In the meanwhile, I am checking my inbox and cell phone like a freakin' mad woman anxiously awaiting a response... I admit it, I am NUTS .. muahahaa! :)

Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? One in a million....
Okay, I'll stop.

Anyways, I'm off to Goodwill tonight so I'll be sure to post if I find anything totally awesome/can't live another second without/hey Aaron, I know we don't need this but I bought it anyways! :)

Giveaway Winner Announced!

Thanks to all my new and old followers who entered my shop giveaway!

I look forward to hosting giveaways like this one often! :)

Fun New Suits Posted! :)

Hi all!
Hope your Monday was as great as a Monday can be!

I had a tough time pulling myself out of bed this morning (as I usually do on Mondays); however, I did just go see the new Batman movie with my sweetie and that totally made my Monday feel more like a Friday!! That movie was AWESOME!!!!! And I know everyone is always crushing on Batman, but helloooooooooo future Robin!! :) P.s. Future Robin kinda reminds me of my Aaron a little bit.. hehehe. :)
Anyways, if you haven't seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, you should go! It has a great story-line and definitely kept me engaged. :) Absolutely loved it!

I was able to photograph a few new items this weekend and posted some new suits in my shop!

Check them out and let me know your favorite! :)

Maybe if you win my shop credit giveaway, you can have one of these yourself! :)

Friday Night Musings

Yayyy!! It's Friday!

I hope everyone has a fun weekend planned! I know mine is going to be quite eventful!

My little brother is home on leave from Afghanistan so my family is going to come visit for the afternoon tomorrow! Aaron works tonight so I am just moseying around trying to clean up the house yet my little kitties are being quite distracting (why thank you little kitties).

P.s. This is Jasmine being oh so cute.. and distracting!

And this is Duchess sitting on Jasmine. (Did anyone else notice Jasmine's evil look and strategically placed leg??)

You know, I'm not quite sure I ever specified what Aaron does for a living, lol... when you hear "night shift" you could think some crazy things... think about it. Okay so now that you've thought about it you really need to let me know the first thing that came to your mind-- this should be interesting!! And as interesting as an episode of COPS is Aaron's day night job. Aaron is a Deputy with the Sheriff's Office! Since he's a rookie, he works the late shift 7 pm - 7 am. The nights do get a little lonely for me, and I do continually worry about him, but I have begun to finally adjust to this schedule and it actually isn't so bad. :)

Anyways, I am totally getting sidetracked in all aspects tonight (can I blame it on the kitties again?) :)
So my family is coming tomorrow afternoon, but before they even arrive I have LOTS of new inventory to photograph for my shop!! I have fallen a bit behind with all the traveling for work/pleasure I have been doing lately-- plus I only like to shoot in natural light so this really only leaves me the weekends. And since I only like to shoot on the weekends that Aaron is working (since he sleeps the whole morning), that leaves me only every other weekend. So, needless to say, I am behind and will be modeling a ton of clothes tomorrow. I'll be sure to post photos of my favorites!

Okay, I probably should stop rambling now to spare you the rest of your Friday evening. :) Plus, I probably should go clean....something.

Have a WONDERFUL weekend! :)

P.s. Don't forget to enter to win a $25 credit to my vintage etsy shop!!

4 days in Rome, Italy

Happy Thursday Friends!

Since I recently posted my photos from my time in Lisbon, I thought tonight I would post some photos from my adventures in Rome!

I flew into Rome from Lisbon really late on Tuesday night and caught a taxi to the hotel (which was absolutely breathtaking!) I worked in the Rome office Wednesday and Thursday, and since we finished up early, I had ALL day Friday to sight-see!! I decided my best bet was a hop-on hop-off tour bus that took me around to all the touristy areas (this ended up being a fantastic idea since it saved me a lot of time and hassle!)

I had tickets for the Colosseum and Roman Forum as well as the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel. Everything was so beautiful and intricate; I could have spent an entire day exploring each area!
I also made stops at the Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps! :)

I hope you enjoy the photos!

Me (sorry I look yucky!) at the Vatican museum

Victor Emmanuel II Monument

St. Peter's Basilica

St. Peter's Square

Beautiful architectural elements

 Vatican Museum

Trevi Fountain

Sistine Chapel (this picture does no justice to the beauty of this building)

Don't forget to enter my etsy shop giveaway!

Thanks so much for your interest in my trip! I should be headed back in September, so hopefully I'll find some time to explore the less touristy areas of the cities! :)
