I mentioned a few weeks back that we were looking for a loveseat or 2 chairs to fill in the now blank space where our old loveseat was. After countless hours online looking for ideas on Pinterest, Houzz, my favorite blogs, furniture sites, etc., I started to think... the new couch we bought is absolutely FABULOUS, but it's a little on the smaller scale. That's when it hit me. The new couch could totally be the "loveseat" and we could get another large furniture piece to be the sofa in the room.
So, at 11 o'clock at night I began scootching the couch over to the other side of the room to see if my suspicions were correct (this was probably very entertaining for my 2 cats). Yes. This couch could totally work where the old loveseat was. Texted a pic to Aaron (who was at work, obviously.. or else I would have punched him in the butt for not helping me scooch the couch!) and got confirmation that I could begin hunting for another large couch.
Conveniently the next day I had to pick my mom up from the airport (mom and dad are moving and as a result I am their airport chauffeur since I am 20 minutes from the airport and it would be ridiculous for them to pay to leave their car there.) I picked her up and decided that since we were right by Crate and Barrel that we should stop and check out their sofas. Of course mom obliged, so to Crate & Barrel we went.
I sat on pretty much every sofa in that place, and took photos of the names and fabrics of my favorites. When I got home, I did some more searching online at lots of my favorite sites: Crate & Barrel, West Elm, CB2, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Room & Board, Thrive, etc. and narrowed my faves down to 4 contenders.
Crate and Barrel Verano
Crate and Barrel Lounge
Room and Board Loring
Pottery Barn Landon
A few days later, Aaron and I were headed downtown for the hockey game, and since we were again close to Crate & Barrel we decided to take a little detour so that Aaron could check out 2 of my favorites: the Lounge Sofa and the Verano Sofa. We loved both couches. They are SO deep and comfy and snuggly and I could picture myself enjoying either of them for hours on end while watching mindless TV and eating goodies. :) We ran from side to side of the store sitting on one, then the next, comparing one to the other. We seriously loved both.
So, we decided right then and there that we would decide between these 2 (though I did really love the Landon and Loring, once we sat on those extra deep couches, we were hooked!). It was Lounge vs. Verano! Showcase Showdown style.. shoutout to my fellow Price is Right lovers! Holla at your girl Bob Barker!!
At this point, business analyst Shannon kicks in. I have to analyze everything: price, reviews, ratings, fabrics, dimensions, ev-ery-thing.
Verano: $1700 + tax and shipping
Lounge: $1450 on sale (originally $1700) + tax and shipping
Both couches had 4 star ratings, both had tons positive reviews, both had fabrics that would work with the existing couch.
At first glance the dimensions of both couches were pretty similar. 90" vs 93" wide, 46.5" vs 46" deep. The place where I noticed a difference, was the depth of the actual seat (from the front where you sit, to where your back will hit a cushion). 21" for the Verano, 29" for the Lounge. That's a pretty significant difference.
The extra 8" in seat depth combined with the great reviews (plus a blogger I read daily has this couch and LOVES it), and the sale price helped me decide on the Lounge Sofa as our winner! Aaron agreed, so we decided to act fast and order before the 15% off sale was over!
I scurried over to ebay to purchase a Crate & Barrel 10% off coupon -- I ALWAYS recommend searching online for coupon codes first (I like retailmenot), and then heading to ebay for coupons on big purchases (if you can't find any free codes). I do this for big purchases at lowes and home depot too. I bought a 10% off coupon for $4, and the seller emailed me the code immediately after sale.
With the 10% off coupon, I only paid $1300 for the sofa, plus $90 tax totalling $1390!!! We decided that since the warehouse is only 10 miles from our house, that we would pick the sofa up ourselves and save the $100 delivery charge. :) Just for perspective, if the sofa wasn't on sale, we didn't use a coupon, and we paid the delivery fee, we could have been paying around $1900 for the same couch we paid less than $1400 for! Big difference! :)
Long story short, we're picking up the couch on Saturday and I am so excited! I can't wait to get it in the house to see how it looks! :) I'll be sure to snap some photos to share next week! :)
So what do you think? Did we make a good decision? Anyone have the Lounge sofa (or any of my other faves)? Do you try to always use a coupon on big purchases?
